DPF filters

Replacement DPF units from Sigma PartFinder

DPF filters and aftertreatment equipment are a recent development in engine technology, designed to reduce exhaust emissions. The drive towards lower emissions is being spearheaded by developed economies such as the EU, USA and Japan. These jurisdictions are steadily introducing more stringent limits on permitted engine emissions, which are impacting on engine design.

The emission limits are referred to by various terms, such as:

  • Tier 2, Tier 3A, Tier 3B, Tier 4 interim, Tier 4 final
  • Euro 5, Euro 6, Euro 7, Euro 8
  • EPA regulations

Manufacturers have tried several technologies in order to minimise their cost of production, whilst meeting current standards. This included higher-performance fuel injection systems and ECU management, AdBlue, and DPF (diesel particulate filter) technology on the latest engines.

Heavy equipment and trucks with larger engines are generally first to comply, with smaller equipment and cars permitted to run on older technologies.

For bulk AdBlue purchases, please contact us as we can provide high-grade AdBlue in 20 or 40 foot container loads, to minimise your cost of fleet operation.
